Kathmandu 29-June, Nepal has posted a huge total against Indonesia in its third match under the ACC Men's U-16 East Zone Cricket in Malaysia after opening batsman Prasid Jaisi scored a century.
Nepal, who were invited to bat first after losing the toss at the Selangor Turf Club in Kuala Lumpur, scored 420 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in 50 overs, setting Indonesia a huge target of 421 runs.
This is the highest total scored by a Nepali age group or senior team in any 50-over tournament.This is also the highest total in the ongoing competition.
Jaisi played a brilliant century of 132 runs off 114 balls. He hit 15 fours and 1 six. Similarly, Raunak Srivastava scored 88 runs off 71 balls with the help of 8 fours and 2 sixes. Another opener, Parivarjan Yadav, played an explosive innings of 71 runs off 28 balls where he hit 4 fours and 8 sixes. Joy Thapa scored 57 runs off 41 balls.
Jaisi and Yadav had put on a partnership of 130 runs for the first wicket. Then the second wicket fell for 151 runs, and Jaisi and Raunak put on a partnership of 148 runs for the third wicket.
Indonesia's Ketut Dharma Putra took 2 wickets while Kavin Neeraj, Mahendra Aji and Rehan Riza took 1 wicket each. Nepal has won both the matches it has played so far. Nepal defeated Singapore by 6 wickets in the first match. In the second match, they defeated Japan by 9 wickets.
Singapore, which has played 2 more matches than Nepal in Group A, is at the top with 6 points from 4 matches including 3 wins, while Nepal is in second place with 4 points from 2 matches. 10 teams, including Nepal, are participating in the U-16 East Zone Cup. Nepal is in Group A along with Singapore, Indonesia, Japan and Bhutan. Nepal has yet to play against Bhutan.
