The stock market fell to 2,785 points, trading volume shrank

 


August 12, Kathmandu – On Wednesday, the stock market fell by 10.50 points.

After this decline, the NEPSE index stood at 2,785 points. During trading, NEPSE reached as high as 2,813 points at 1 PM, but the downward trend continued almost until the closing time.

The total transaction amount also decreased. On the previous day, transactions worth NPR 6.91 billion were recorded, whereas today it stood at NPR 6.16 billion. Prices of 89 companies increased, 159 declined, and 1 remained unchanged.

Today, except for the trading sector, the fluctuation in other group indices remained within 1 percent. Trading fell the most by 1.50%. Banking decreased by 0.69%, hotels and tourism by 0.54%, hydropower by 0.30%, investment by 0.02%, life insurance by 0.56%, manufacturing and processing by 0.10%, microfinance by 0.22%, and non-life insurance by 0.27%.

Development banks increased by 0.35%, finance by 0.04%, and others by 0.03%.

Mayakhola Hydropower saw the highest price rise of 5.74%. Similarly, Nepal Republic Media rose by 3.66%, Saptakoshi Development Bank by 3.33%, and Samaj Laghubitta by 3.31%.

Sikles Hydropower recorded the highest fall of 7.22%. Balefi Hydropower decreased by 3.45% and Upakar Laghubitta by 2.82%.

The top five companies in terms of trading volume today were Balefi Hydropower, United Modi Hydropower, Shivam Cement, NRN Infrastructure, and Nepal Reinsurance Company.
